Buenos Aires, Feb 3 (NA) – Former Boca Juniors striker Jonathan Calleri, currently with Brazil's São Paulo, has been offered to River Plate. Coach Marcelo Gallardo would analyze the possible signing of the forward to reinforce the attack. According to the Argentine News Agency, the 'Muñeco' (Gallardo's nickname) seeks to end the transfer window by bringing in a 'number nine' as Maximiliano Salas, Sebastián Driussi, and Facundo Colidioni have not been convincing. In recent days, Colombian Rafael Santos Borré has entered River Plate's orbit, having previously worn the red band, but negotiations appear to have stalled, making the 32-year-old forward with a past at 'Xeneize' a target. However, the situation for the Núñez club is not straightforward, as to add a reinforcement, they must offload a player abroad—on loan or by sale—to free up a spot, as the place vacated by Lisandro Martínez was taken by Kendry Páez. Calleri was previously probed by River and Gallardo's staff, but the deal never materialized. Nevertheless, the 'Millionaires' board will analyze the situation with the idea of signing a player who has been sought in previous transfer windows and is to the coach's liking. While it is true that the red-and-white team is looking for a forward, they do not have the urgency to sign one, so they could wait until the winter transfer window to decide whether to push for an attacker or stick with what they have.
